HEY FRIENDS!! I'm Chandler

I created this blog to lengthen my platform and to connect with others on a more personal level.

I was born with the most common form of dwarfism, achondroplasia. In Summer 2010 I had orthopedic surgery to correct my lower limb deformities (bowed legs) that is very common with achondroplasia. I straightened my legs AND lengthened them. It was months of twists and turns –- literally!! + a little blood, sweat, and tears.

I have been very open with my experience since the very beginning. Limb lengthening is a taboo topic amongst the dwarfism community and at the time of my surgery in 2010 information on the procedure was outdated and no one with dwarfism had shared their experience since the 90s. My Facebook page, Chandler In Baltimore was created to keep friends and family updated on my process and was made public for anyone to see and learn about my experience.

In addition to my first surgery I went on to have two more lengthening procedures, lengthening my arms (humerus) and legs again –- this time with new modern, and less invasive, method of limb lengthening where a telescoping rod is inserted into the bone.

~ OK , SO NOW THAT WE GOT THAT NOT SO LITTLE INTRO OUT OF THE WAY LETS MOVE ON TO SOME BIGGER AND PROBABLY LESS INTERESTING THINGS. ~

First off, you will find that I am a punny person. I'm also very serious when it comes to something I'm passionate about.
